ALTHEA

Hello Earthlings and Aliens!

I'm Althea (al-TAY-ah), a Bay Area artist who makes science fiction comics and weird paintings. I'm gay, trans, and Filipino, and I bring every aspect of my identity to my work.

My fascination lies in the juncture of human experience and rapidly evolving technology - how science fiction and imaginary worlds reflect the soft underbelly of humanity, the emotional, the messy, the nuanced, the forgotten, those spaces that polished chrome and glittering holograms leave behind.

As a multidisciplinary artist, I explore this subject matter in any form it calls me to take, whether it be prose fiction, a graphic novel, or a painting series.

Driven by a passion for education, I also run the Youtube channel and blog, Many Hands Creative, where I discuss a variety of topics including advice for beginner artists, how to understand your artistic calling, and learning the skills required to bring that calling to fruition.
